And they say to lose a close friend is like losing a part of yourself. I guess that's true. Is it still true if you've stopped caring? It's like, if you lost a friend in the middle of the woods and no one was around to hear it...would i still care?

after nearly 11 years of friendship with the last person of my childhood im still in contact with, i believe it's time to let go. don't be sad. in the grand scheme things none of this will matter.

So as of now, I am at a loss as to what my xanga will be about. I get too many of these online journals and never use them and then am scolded for wasting precious web space--because obviously there isn't enough to go around. I don't need a journal to rant to, I have friends for that...I'm not much the information/knowledge instructing type...I couldn't care enough for that...

I'm more the contemplative, philosophical type who is over-analytical and tells it pretty much like it is...or rather...pretty much how I see it should be...

So, I suppose I'll use this xanga as a makeshift analysis of individuals i encounter and their situations...this may be construed as a type of life instruction and if that's how you'll take it then so be it. Let me begin with an issue currently distracting many: the Superbowl.

To all you manly men of all men's men out there rolling your eyes thinking "oh great, it's another ignorant feminist bashing on one of the greatest sport events of all time" i tell you this: shut up. I am neither ignorant, nor a feminist, nor do i hate sports. I'm actually a fan *hint--fan NOT fanatic* of baseball, hockey, cricket, and REAL football. There is no problem with the Superbowl really except for the fact that people treat it as if going to it was like making pilgrimage. People, please. Yes, I realize it's considered a once in a lifetime opportunity, but my lifetime can honestly go without a visit to the Superbowl. It's a great game, I'm a college American football fan myself, but I just do not care to be at the Superbowl or even WATCH it. Why? It doesn't matter--just let it go that I, a born and raised American, do not wish to attend the Hajj of the NFL. Nobody actually goes there to watch the game anyway. I'd rather stay at home and flip to the Superbowl when commercials come on, then back to Jurassic Park on channel 4.

Honestly, this is just an example of how eager people are to follow the crowd. I had this discussion with a friend of mine:

Me: so you're a football fan?
Him: nah, not really.
Me: *pause* sooo why are u going to the superbowl?
Him: how can you ask that?? it's the Superbowl!
Me: you are a prime example of the product of an American education

It's like that one Simpsons episode where Homer sees a huge line and gets behind it simply because it's so long, saying "With a line this long, it's gotta be good," only to find out that at the end of the wait is an old lady insulting people...yeah.

The Superbowl is really an old lady insulting people...
